Love at first bite

It all started in 1987, in a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa called Rosettenville. Fernando Duarte invited Robbie Brozin to a humble eatery to try some mouth-watering PERi-PERi chicken. The rest, as they say, is history. 11 years later, in 1998, Nando’s landed in Malaysia at the suburb of Bangsar in Kuala Lumpur and in 2011 in Singapore. Today, we have 86 Nando’s restaurants across Malaysia and Singapore and over 1,700 Nando’s employees serving our unique, fiery flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken.

A taste like no other

PERi-PERi isn’t just a chilli pepper, it is also the name of our signature spicy sauce. The taste is truly unique and unlike the all-out burn of other chilli sauces. We mix our fiery little wonders with onions, oil, herbs, fresh lemons and a kick of garlic which produces the recognisable citrus-y, notes with a hint of earthiness and heat. Our chickens are then marinated in PERi-PERi for 24-hours so the taste goes right to the bone. To top things off, the chickens are then basted again with your choice of heat level – Lemon & Herb, Mild, Hot, Extra Hot.

From farm to plate

PERi-PERi is a magical ingredient with colourful history. With something this special, we decided to source our PERi-PERI chillies directly from small-scale farmers in Southern Africa and birthed PERi-farms. This way, we’d ensure the quality of our chillies were consistently high and in the process, we’d make a difference to the farmers’ lives.

The Nando’s dining experience is not only about the chicken nor the spice. It’s about our people who transform that experience from standard good to sizzling great. Our restaurants across the globe may look different as each restaurant has its own unique design, but the hospitality and experience remain consistent: warm, friendly, vibrant – at home. Surrounded by Southern African art, melodious afro-luso music and comfortable seats, it’s an experience to look forward to everyday.

Being part of the community

Nando’s has always believed in giving back to the community we’re in and giving back to our Southern African roots. Here in Malaysia our Chicken with a Heart programme has benefited numerous families, children and refugees in need by donating our excess chickens and produce. Whilst in Singapore we have been long standing partners with Yellow Ribbon having recruited over 300 ex-offenders. We also believe in welcoming everyone to the Nando’s family and that includes those with physical and mental impairments, orang asli, and those with justice history.

Dining at Nando’s is a feel-good adventure – we’re multi-cultural, exotic, always looking to do good and we love nothing more than people gathering around our tables sharing delicious PERi-PERi, laughter and feeling right at home.
